Existential-Analytic Counselling and Psychotherapy in Holborn, London and Colchester, Essex

I believe in the power of therapeutic conversation to help clients feel clearer about themselves, their choices and life patterns. My work is grounded in forming a supportive and trusting relationship, where clients can explore difficult experiences at their own pace.

My Approach

My practice is informed by existentialism, humanism, psychoanalysis, phenomenology but, above all, it is informed by my experience of sitting with different clients over the years as they try to make sense of their lives. I am used to dealing with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, loss, panic attacks, relationship breakdowns, feeling lost or stuck in life. Despite this, I ultimately believe that every client’s personal experience is unique and goes beyond any general theorising or philosophising, despite the usefulness which doing so may bring.

Rather, psychotherapy might be seen as a descriptive practice which cannot be quantified nor distilled yet which requires the careful listening of the psychotherapist. By tuning into what my clients tell me, I try to help them become aware of possible layers of meaning within their language.  This can enable them to realise underlying patterns which shape their experience and to feel clearer about themselves and their relationships with others.

About Me

I hold a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapy and phenomenology, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling.  Previously, I was a Samaritans volunteer and a counsellor at Third Age Counselling in London.  I continue to work as an advisor for a national domestic abuse charity whilst I am the assistant editor of the European Journal of Psychotherapy and Counselling.  Alongside my private psychotherapy practices in London and Colchester, I remain in continued professional development through the Southern Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Psychotherapy can feel like a daunting step. If you would like to arrange a session or simply have a question to ask, please get in touch. My sessions typically last 50 minutes (once or twice weekly) and I offer in-person, online or telephone counselling and psychotherapy. I welcome clients from all walks of life, from young adulthood through to older age.
